Vacuum Packaging Machines
These
machines are used to “vacuum out” most of the oxygen from
a bag containing food or electronics items. By removing most of the oxygen
and immediately sealing the bag the shelf life of the food or electronics
component is greatly extended. A longer shelf life allows foods to be
stored in freezers or ambient temperatures without spoiling for a long
period of time or the electronic component from corroding due to oxygen
and moisture contamination.
Special
“vacuum bags” must be used so that oxygen or moisture does
not permeate through the wall of the bag and contaminate the product.
Usually a co-extruded nylon plus polyethylene material is used in construction
of these bags.
There are three major types of vacuum machines:
- Chamber Vacuum Machine – the entire bag is put inside the chamber
of the machine and a vacuum is pulled on the entire bag – then
sealed.
- Retractable Nozzle Vacuum Machine – The bag opening is placed
over one or two nozzles that protrude into the bag and suck the air
(oxygen) out of the bag only – then the nozzles retract out of
the bag and the machine immediately seals the bag.
- Channel Bag Vacuum Sealer – The bag opening is placed into
the vacuum machine and air is sucked out of the bag through very small
channels molded into one side of the bag. The machine then seals the
bag closed after the desired vacuum is reached.
Crystal-Vision has both types of vacuum bags and all three types of vacuum
sealing machines.
